Tuition and Fees for Your Cybersecurity Education

The Cost Effective Cybersecurity Education Path

The University of Fairfax's Online Cybersecurity Education Path (CEP) can take you from your Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification through your cybersecurity doctorate in manageable steps that enable you to earn academic credentials as well as cybersecurity certifications along the way. As you achieve these milestones, you'll enhance your career, even while still enrolled in school. As shown below, by following the CEP you'll:

  • Earn the credentials you seek at your own pace
  • Experience positive career impacts while you are still in school
  • Apply credits earned and tuition paid at each step
  • Use your tuition dollars cost effectively to earn multiple credentials concurrently

Tuition per Semester Credit

Tuition at the University of Fairfax is $895 per semester credit. Tuition and fees are described in detail in the University catalog and are subject to change without notice.

Tuition and Fees for Each Three-Credit Course

Typically, students enroll in one three-credit course per eight-week course session. The total tuition per three-credit course is $2,685. Fees per course are $125. All fees are described in detail in the University catalog.

Textbooks

Textbooks are not included in tuition and fees. The estimated average cost of books per course is $150. The University's Master Booklist identifies required and optional textbooks for all courses. Direct links to Amazon and CourseSmart (eBooks) for purchasing books are available to students on the University's online platform.

Total Program Tuition

Total tuition for each of the University's most popular cybersecurity programs, all of which are major steps along the CEP, is shown in Tuition Tables 1-5 as follows:

  • The last column of each table displays the cumulative tuition for all credits required to earn the specific credential or degree

Refunds

A student who cancels in any manner within five days of signing an Enrollment Agreement (referred to as a Cancellation Period) will receive a 100% refund of all monies paid, within thirty (30) days of notification. The refund will exclude the non-refundable application fee.

Students who withdraw from a course after the Cancellation Period receive refunds on a percentage basis according to the student’s withdrawal date in relation to the most recent period of enrollment for which the student has paid. Any refunds due students will be received within 30 days of notification of drop/withdrawal as shown below:

Ohio Resident’s
1.) Ohio Refund Policy:

  1. A student who starts class and withdraws during the first full calendar week of the quarter shall be obligated for 25% of the tuition and refundable fees for that academic term, plus the registration fee.

  2. A student who withdraws during the second full calendar week of the academic term shall be obligated for 50% of the tuition and refundable fees for that period, plus the registration fee.

  3. A student who withdraws during the third full calendar week of the academic term shall be obligated for 75% of the tuition and refundable fees for that period, plus the registration fee.

  4. A student who withdraws beginning with the fourth full calendar week of the academic term will not be entitled to a refund of any portion of the tuition and fees.

2.) Ohio Cancellation and Settlement Policy:

    This enrollment agreement or application may be canceled within five calendar days after the date of signing provided the school is notified of the cancellation in writing. 

 

Step 1: Cybersecurity Best Practices-CISSP Graduate Certificate (CBP)

If you already hold the CISSP you will skip Step 1 and begin your education path at Step 2.
The tuition of $5370 paid for the six-credit CBP-CISSP at Step 1 applies to the tuition for Step 2 - the ISPP Graduate Certificate.

 

Step 2: Information Security Professional Practices (ISPP) Graduate Certificate

Step 1
Earn a Cybersecurity Graduate Certificate
Total Credits Earned = 6

Successfully complete six academic credits (+ the Official (ISC)² CISSP Review Seminar) to earn the Cybersecurity Best Practices-CISSP Graduate Certificate. These six credits also apply to Steps 2 and 3.

Step 2
Earn a Cybersecurity Graduate Certificate
Total Credits Earned in Steps 1+2 = 18

Successfully complete another 12 academic credits and you will receive the Information Security Professional Practices (ISPP) Graduate Certificate. The 12 credits also apply to Steps 3 of your Cybersecurity MS.

Step 3
Earn a Cybersecurity Master's Degree (Step 3 is optional for Master's degree holders.)*
Total Credits Earned in Steps 1+2+3 = 36

Successfully complete 18 additional academic credits to earn your MS in Information Security Management (MSISM). You may elect to work towards your Graduate Certificate in Information Security for the Enterprise (ISEN).

*Master's degree holders may either skip Step 3 or choose to earn an MSISM.

Step 4
Earn a Doctorate in Information Assurance (DIA)
Total Credits Earned in Steps 1+2+3+4 = 96

Successfully complete 60 additional academic credits beyond Step 3 to earn your Cybersecurity Doctorate. These credits also apply to three additional graduate certificates (ISPP, CBP, ISEN).
