University of Fairfax Receives Renewed Accreditation
The University of Fairfax recently received renewed accreditation for another 5-year term through the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). The University was founded shortly after 9/11 to help meet the emerging, urgent need for cybersecurity professionals. It’s pursuit of accreditation took nearly 10 years of effort to complete.
As the renewal notification letter from DEAC states: “Accreditation by DEAC is a reliable indicator of the value and quality of distance education that an institution offers. In receiving renewal of accreditation, [the University of] Fairfax has demonstrated its commitment to educational standards and ethical business practices that assure quality, accountability, and improvement in higher education.
The accreditation renewal is also a reflection of the accomplishments of the many University of Fairfax graduates who serve as senior cybersecurity professionals in both the public and private sectors.
“We pride ourselves on the singularity of our mission: ‘…to support the cybersecurity community by providing adult learners with quality, accessible, distance education,’” stated Frank Longaker, chairman of the University of Fairfax Board of Directors. “Ultimately, this is what matters. Graduates of the University of Fairfax occupy the frontlines of the global battle for information assurance, and the University is dedicated to the continuous improvement of our programs and coursework to continue to meet this goal.”
