Unique University of Fairfax Focus on Cybersecurity Leadership

What is really unique about University of Fairfax is the focus on creating leaders in information security. We were taught to make critical decisions based on understanding the risks facing the organization. I make those decisions every day. If I had to choose a graduate school again I'd be right back at University of Fairfax because of their commitment to produce quality professionals who are going to be the next executives.

I Earned My Cybersecurity MS While Working Full-Time

I chose the University of Fairfax because it allowed me to earn my Master's degree online while performing well at my full-time job, being a dad to my kids, and participating in community service activities. It fit my lifestyle really well. I am seriously considering going back to University of Fairfax to complete my doctorate.

My Cybersecurity Career Took Off with University of Fairfax MS Degree

After earning my University of Fairfax MS degree, Wow! My career took off! Before earning my degree I was more like a mechanic, loading memory and applications on servers. I was looking for something more challenging. Because of my degree, I was able to transition from Senior Systems Engineer to IT auditor. When my company merged with another financial institution, I received offers from several different organizations within the new company because of my experience and my degree in Information Security from University of Fairfax.

Cybersecurity Doctorate Will Open Up More Avenues for Me

I'm on the education board for CompTIA, and I'm helping people who are underserved in the IT community like veterans and minority women to transition into working roles in IT. A doctorate in Information Assurance would open up more avenues for me to become a director or CIO in a community non-profit development organization.
